Over £1,000 raised by local businesses at the 2011 Forester Business Awards21st April 2011
The Forester dedicated the evening to the 1 Rifles Swift and Bold appeal with a fantastic video being shown in support of the appeal, and a one minutes’ silence in memory of those killed in action during Herrick 9.
Major (Rtd) Chris Willis MBE added to this with a presentation on The Rifles Regiment followed by an overview of the 1 Rifles Swift and Bold appeal given by myself. The reaction from the 200 guests was astonishing, all showing their support by generously entering the evenings’ raffle which raised a staggering £1030 for the appeal The Foresters Editor Viv Hargreaves also presented us with a cheque for £1,000 raised through her personal half marathon challenge on behalf of the appeal. Table decorations, made by Danielle Gane of Country Cute were created in Rifles’ colours and later kindly donated to the Battalion. Guests also enjoyed a presentation by guest speaker Geoff Harding (The Bank of England’s Deputy Agent for South West England) and a delicious three course meal before the 2011 awards were given and businesses celebrated. A fantastic evening was had by all. Support the 1 Rifles Wristband Appeal by clicking here and making a donation. |
